Pattern Overview
Kidney Deficiency is the fundamental pattern in PCOS, characterized by HPO axis dysfunction, anovulation, low ovarian reserve, irregular menstruation, and infertility. The core pathogenesis is Kidney deficiency failing to govern reproduction, leading to HPO axis dysfunction, impaired follicular development, and anovulation.

Base Formula: You Gui Wan (右归丸) or Bu Shen Cu Pai Luan Tang (补肾促排卵汤)
Composition (You Gui Wan):
Rehmannia (Shu Di), Dioscorea (Shan Yao), Cornus (Shan Zhu Yu), Goji Berry (Gou Qi), Eucommia (Du Zhong), Cuscuta (Tu Si Zi), Deer Antler Glue (Lu Jiao Jiao), Licorice (Gan Cao)
Action: Tonifies Kidney, nourishes Essence, and promotes ovulation.

HPO axis dysfunction with abnormal GnRH pulse secretion, reduced ovarian reserve, and impaired follicular development. Kidney Deficiency corresponds to PCOS with ovarian dysfunction, where abnormal GnRH secretion and reduced ovarian reserve contribute to anovulation and infertility.
